Most consecutive bench presses underwater

The most consecutive bench presses underwater is 77 and was achieved by Vitaly Vivchar (Russia), in Tomsk, Russia, on 13 August 2020.

To prepare for the attempt, Vitaly practised different breathing exercises from yoga and freediving in order to be successful.

Vitaly faced a couple of challenges on the day of the attempt. Firstly, the end of summer was approaching so the weather was a lot cooler than it had been. He was worried that his body would use his valuable oxygen resources to warm up his body.

He also had many spectators present that day, including his mother, so the pressure was on!
