As of 31 March 2012, the Call of Duty franchise (Infinity Ward and Treyarch, 2003–11) had approximately 40 million monthly active users, predominantly playing Modern Warfare 1–3 (Infinity Ward, 2007–11) and World at War and Black Ops (Treyarch, 2008–10). The Call of Duty community exceeds the combined real-world populations of New York, London, Tokyo, Paris and Madrid.
