Released in 1986 to tie in with the summer tournament in Mexico, US Gold's World Cup Carnival was the first official World Cup soccer videogame. However, even its makers admit that it was a disaster. Owing to development problems, publisher US Gold rehashed an earlier unlicensed game, World Cup Football (Arctic Games), and bundled it with a wall-chart. The game was so simple that players could walk the ball into the net. Amstrad Action magazine scored it 0%.
