The largest origami word consists of 8,888 origami cranes, and was achieved by Kakezuka Elementary School (Japan) in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, on 14 November 2019.

This record attempt was organised in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kakezuka Elementary School.

Three months before the attempt, students were asked to write down their dreams on a sheet of paper. One student wrote, "to achieve a Guinness World Records title." This voice became the catalyst in making the largest origami word. Students, alumni, teachers, and parents contributed in breaking this record.
