The largest seeds of any plant belongs to the coco-de-mer, Lodoicea maldivica. This rare palm is very slow-growing and can live for as long as 350 years. The fruits, which can take up to six years to develop, contain between one and three seeds, each measuring up to 50 cm (19.6 in) long and weighing up to 25 kg (55 lb). Distracted by the suggestive bottom-shape of the fruit, some people have suggested that the plant has aphrodisiac qualities, but this has never been proven!
