Longest climbing route

The longest rock climbs in the world don’t go up, but sideways. Known as "Girdle Traverses" these climbs traverse large cliffs from one side to the other, using the same technical rock-climbing techniques climbers use to go from bottom to top. The longest continuous girdle traverse in the world (meaning climbers never have to walk between disjointed cliff bands), is the "El Capitan Girdle Traverse" which climbs from the bottom right-side of the famous cliff to the upper left side. The route is 14,000 feet long. It was established by Chris McNamara and Mark Melvin in April 1998, and it has never been repeated.
