The most expensive dried seaweed / nori sold at auction is JP¥120,000 (£626.90; €753.74; $773.73) per 100 sheets and was purchased by Fuga Co., Ltd., Tsuho Co., Ltd. and Ariake Nori Laboratory Co., Ltd. (all Japan) in Kumamoto, Kumamoto, Japan on 4 February 2025.

The price is for 100 sheets of dried seaweed. The type of dried seaweed purchased was Shioya Ichiban Special Grade, a branded nori harvested from the Shioya fishery area of Kawachi, Kumamoto in the Ariake Sea.
