The longest running Dungeons & Dragons homebrew campaign is hosted by Dungeon Master Robert Wardhaugh (Canada) in London, Ontario, Canada, and has been running for over 43 years since the first gaming session on 25 April 1982, as of April 2025.

The first session was played in Borden, Saskatchewan, with Robert and a friend, Jeff Golding. Within a few months more players joined the campaign, and by 1985 five more had joined, resulting in sessions being played whenever possible and at whose ever house was available.

In 1985, Robert moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for University, which brought in a large number of new players, as well as the return of some of the early players. Within a few years, the group had grown to around 20-25 players and sessions were held twice weekly.

Since then, Robert has moved a few times (to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Regina, Saskatchewan, and then to London Ontario) for studies and work but the campaign has never stopped. Not even for a few weeks. Players make regular trips from across Canada (some players even travel from England to participate), while there is also the option to join remotely via video call. The gaming group (now consisting of over 50 players) contains many players who have been playing for decades. Gaming sessions are held approximately 1-2 times per week.

Robert has created his own extensive set of unique rules (also known as 'homebrew' gameplay) designed to make the game move as quickly and efficiently as possible, while also being captivating and emotional. The same story has been ongoing for over four decades. Over these decades, Robert has gathered a massive and impressive collection of gaming miniatures and terrain.

He has no plans to stop any time soon!
