The most World Sidecar Championship titles won by the same pair is five, by Klaus Enders and Ralph Engelhardt (both Germany) riding a BMW machine in 1967, 1969 and 1972–74. The World Motorcycle Championships were instituted by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme in 1949.
