The best-selling RTS game is Warzone 2100 (Pumpkin Studios, 1999) for the PlayStation, with sales of 5.01 million as of 22 June 2013, according to VGChartz.
After Pumpkin Studios was closed down, fans remained committed to the game and it was eventually released as open-source by the copyright holders, publisher Eidos Interactive, in late 2004.
