The most expensive pie sold at auction was bought for $3,100.00 (£1,994.54) by Jerry Mumma (USA), in Rich Hill, Missouri, USA, on 6 July 2012.

The pie was sold in the pie contest and auction that forms a part of Rich Hill’s annual Fourth of July celebrations. Jerry Mumma outbid all others at the public event for a peanut butter and banana pie baked by his granddaughter Jarra Mumma. Larry J. Hacker was the licensed auctioneer who presided over the pie auction, which was held using the English auction system.
